When you see our friendly audiologist, she will start by taking your history to find out what you are having trouble with and what you need help with.
Next, a physical examination of your ears will be performed. This is done to look for wax and to evaluate the physical condition of your ear drum. This will be followed tympanometry. For this test, a small probe is gently placed in your ear canal to change the air pressure. It’s painless and helps us check the health of your middle ear.
You’ll be asked to take a seat in our soundproof booth and to put on some headphones. The audiologist will play play soft beeps at different pitches and instruct you to raise your hand when you can hear them. This will be followed by the audiologist saying words or sentences at various volumes, and you’ll repeat them back to her.
The audiologist will go over your results with you. She’ll discuss the state of your hearing and what you can do to keep it as healthy as possible. If you have hearing issues, she may suggest hearing aids to improve your quality of life.
